Youngdoo Son is an Assistant Professor in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Dongguk University, specializing in data science, machine learning methods, and their applications to industrial, business, and financial problems. His research interests can be classified into two areas: machine learning methods and applications to industry problems, which are briefly described below.
Machine Learning Methods:
Development of novel machine learning concepts and algorithms which can be applied to general data analytics, based on mathematical and statistical theory, including kernel methods, neural networks and deep learning, Bayesian methods, reinforcement learning, active learning, meta learning, multitask learning, attention models, etc.
Applications to Industry Problems:
Application of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to the various area to solve problems and create new values in real industry. Application areas include, but are not limited to: manufacturing and quality management based on AI, prognostics and health management, climate forecasting, material informatics, text mining, financial asset pricing, etc.
